Initial Dental Condition

Based on the clinical examination and X-ray imaging, Dr. Bùi Thị Giang recorded the following findings:

Soft tissues: Balanced facial proportions, lips naturally closed at rest, harmonious square jaw angle.
Teeth:
- Overbite: 1.5 mm (mild, within acceptable limits)
- Overjet: 3 mm (with discrepancy)
- Rotated teeth: 13, 21, 25, 42
- Multiple carious teeth: 17, 16, 26, 37, 36, 35, 44, 46, 47
- Teeth 15 and 27 had undergone root canal treatment
- Old fractured fillings on teeth 15 and 37
- Curve of Spee: 2 mm
- Upper dental midline deviated 1 mm to the left
- Canine and molar relationships on both sides: Class I
Jawbone: Normal development of both jaws, skeletal Class I relationship, short facial type, with a closing growth pattern of the mandible.
Other findings: Tooth 28 buccally displaced, tooth 38 impacted mesially.

Ms. Oanh’s case involved not only occlusal discrepancies but also multiple dental pathologies, requiring a comprehensive orthodontic plan combined with restorative treatment to achieve optimal functional and aesthetic outcomes.

Treatment Plan

Based on the dental, skeletal, and occlusal analysis, Dr. Giang recommended comprehensive fixed orthodontic treatment (braces) with the following objectives:

Align and level all teeth, combined with bilateral arch expansion to improve overall balance.
Correct the dental midlines to their ideal positions.
Reduce the protrusion of the anterior teeth, bringing overjet and overbite back to normal physiological ranges.
Stabilize the occlusion, ensuring optimal cusp interdigitation and maintaining Class I relationships of the canines and molars.
Perform comprehensive dental treatment in parallel, including fillings for decayed teeth and replacement of fractured restorations, to preserve long-term oral health.
