4. Standard orthodontic procedure

Step 1: Examination and X-rays
The orthodontist will perform a general examination, review your dental and medical history, and take intraoral, extraoral, panoramic, and cephalometric X-rays to gather important diagnostic data.

Step 2: Consultation and treatment planning
Based on the images and scans, with the support of specialized software, the doctor will assess misalignment and design a treatment plan, including a timeline. You will receive a detailed explanation of the process. After agreeing to treatment, dental impressions will be taken. Traditional braces use conventional impressions, while aesthetic, non-surgical braces may use modern 3D scanning technology.

Step 3: Orthodontic appliance placement
Once the treatment plan is approved, the selected orthodontic appliance will be fitted. For clear aligners, the process involves 3D scanning and digital planning in ClinCheck. After about 3–4 weeks, the aligner set is manufactured and ready for use.

Step 4: Retention phase
After achieving the desired results—healthy, aligned teeth and a balanced facial profile—you will wear a retainer for 1–2 years to stabilize the teeth in their new position and ensure lasting results.

5. Popular orthodontic methods

There are two main orthodontic methods:

5.1 Braces (fixed orthodontics):
The most common and widely used method due to flexibility and control. Braces come in two options with different prices—metal brackets and ceramic brackets.

5.2 Clear aligners:

Step 4: Treatment plan and agreement.

Step 5: Dental cleaning and bracket placement.

Step 6: Regular check-ups for adjustments.

Step 7: Continue treatment until the agreed result is achieved.

During braces treatment, some discomfort may occur, especially in the first 1–2 weeks, but it gradually subsides as you adapt.

7. Clear aligner treatment process

Step 1: Examination and consultation on suitable treatment solutions.
Step 2: Take photographs of the teeth from both inside and outside the mouth.
Step 3: Take X-rays and other necessary dental scans.
Step 4: Present the treatment plan and sign the agreement.
Step 5: Design and manufacture the aligner trays.
Step 6: Receive the trays and wear them as instructed by the dentist.
Step 7: Complete the treatment.

Clear aligner treatment is generally very smooth and convenient because the entire process is pre-calculated and digitally programmed in advance. However, the cost of clear aligners is still relatively higher compared to other orthodontic methods.
